When sending specimens, please note the following: specimen number, processing method, test item, whether duplicates are needed, contact information, and whether the specimen will be returned after testing.
For specimen collection, ensure the stability of the target components. If testing on the same day, store at 4°C. Otherwise, store at -20°C or -70°C, avoiding repeated freezing and thawing. Most specimens can be stored for up to 48 hours at 2–8°C, one month at -20°C, and six months at -70°C. Some hormone samples may require the addition of aprotinin.
For liquid specimens such as serum, plasma, urine, pleural fluid, ascites, cerebrospinal fluid, and cell culture supernatants, ensure they are free of sediment. For serum, allow blood to clot at room temperature for 10–20 minutes, then centrifuge at 2000–3000 rpm for 20 minutes. For plasma, use appropriate anticoagulants like EDTA, sodium citrate, or heparin, and centrifuge accordingly. For urine and other liquids, centrifuge and collect the supernatant. Cell culture supernatants should be collected and centrifuged, while tissue homogenates require PBS buffer and protease inhibitors.
For tissue specimens, cut the tissue, weigh it, add PBS with protease inhibitors, homogenize, and centrifuge. Always follow kit instructions carefully before collecting samples.
