What is a Class A Steel Fire Door?
One of the common types is the reinforced wooden door, often used indoors, also known as a steel-wood door or steel-wood composite door. These doors combine the strength of steel with the aesthetic appeal of wood. They are constructed using steel bars internally, covered with MDF or wood panels. Some models use a three-layer structure: steel plate + wooden grid keel + steel plate, with a PVC film on the surface that mimics real wood grain. This design is not only safe and eco-friendly but also resistant to deformation and cracking, offering a warm feel without the coldness of pure metal. Plus, they are cost-effective and easy to install.
Steel-wood doors are an ideal blend of solid wood and composite doors, combining the best features while addressing the shortcomings of each. They are quick to install, saving time, labor, and money. The door frame, door leaf panel, and reinforcement are all made from cold-rolled steel plates. The thickness of the steel plates varies: the door frame is 1.2–1.5 mm, the door leaf panel is 0.8–1.2 mm, and the reinforcement without screw holes is 1.2–1.5 mm, while those with screw holes must be at least 3.0 mm. The door leaf and frame are filled with non-combustible materials to enhance fire resistance.
The hardware accessories, such as locks, hinges, and bolts, are tested to withstand temperatures of at least 950°C. Double doors come with a cover and a door closer, and the door frame includes a sealing groove for better insulation. During testing, the fire resistance lasted over 54 minutes, maintaining integrity and keeping the temperature rise on the non-fire side within safe limits (average 57.3°C, maximum 98.8°C), making the fire resistance limit exceed 1.2 hours.
Grade A Steel Fire Door Specifications
1. The door leaf is made of composite plastic plates with embossed patterns and wooden inner ribs. It is impact-resistant, environmentally friendly, and free from paint, formaldehyde, and radiation. It is also moisture-proof, insect-proof, and provides good thermal insulation.
2. The door frame is made of 2 cm or more laminated solid wood, finished with high-quality PVC film. It is durable, aesthetically pleasing, and eco-friendly.
3. The door lines are made of high-quality wood-plastic extrusion, which is waterproof, moisture-proof, and easy to install without the need for nails.

Despite their advantages, Grade A steel fire doors do have some drawbacks. They tend to be more expensive, may deform under certain conditions, and are not ideal for very cold climates. Additionally, they can be heavy and prone to warping if exposed to excessive moisture.
Installation of Grade A Steel Fire Doors
When installing steel fire doors, it's important to prevent bending or deformation of the door frame. A wooden support should be placed across the width of the door frame. The bottom of the door frame should be buried 20mm below the floor level, and then welded to the wall embedded parts. Next, drill a hole in the upper corner of the door frame and fill it with a concrete mix of cement, sand, and expanded perlite (in a ratio of 1:2:5). Once the concrete has set, the installation is complete and ready for use.
