Stefan Klein, a Slovak designer, recently announced that his Aeromobil 2.5 has successfully completed its first flight, marking a major milestone in the development of flying cars. Since the 1990s, Klein has been working on the concept, starting with the first prototype of version 1.0. So far, he has invested over 20 years and significant resources into making this vision a reality.
The current Aeromobil 2.5 is a prototype of the full-featured third-generation Aeromobil concept. It features a steel tube frame combined with a carbon fiber outer shell, measuring 6,000 mm in length and weighing just 449 kg. The rear propeller drive system is powered by a Rotax 912 engine, enabling seamless transitions between driving and flying. This makes it possible for users to start a "walk-and-go" journey at any time, whether on the road or in the air.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Aeromobil is its versatility. It can be parked in standard parking lots, refueled at any gas station, and driven on all regular and high-speed roads. Additionally, it can take off and land on any airport runway worldwide. When operating as a vehicle, it functions as a two-seater convertible, offering a maximum range of 875 km and a top speed of 160 km/h. In flight mode, it can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, making it one of the most advanced personal air vehicles currently in development.
With its blend of innovation and practicality, the Aeromobil 2.5 represents a bold step toward the future of transportation. As technology continues to evolve, we may soon see flying cars become a common sight on both roads and skies.
