One of the most well-known cases was that of JJB Sports, where it was revealed that the former CEO had falsified loan agreements with two suppliers to secure over £1 million in cash payments. These transactions were not disclosed to the board and were used to purchase personal assets, despite the company being in a severe financial crisis. This is just one example of how unethical behavior can have serious consequences for both the company and its stakeholders.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated incident. Many businesses have faced criticism for engaging in questionable dealings with their suppliers, including fraud and blackmail. The impact of such actions extends beyond the boardroom—it affects customers, employees, and shareholders alike.

Kite’s Supplier Code of Conduct

We view our suppliers as long-term partners. Before entering into any agreement, we carefully assess potential vendors to ensure they align with our values. Once a partnership is established, we expect full transparency and compliance with our Code of Conduct.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct outlines the following key expectations:

• Suppliers must not offer gifts that could be interpreted as bribes to Kite employees.

• If gifts are given, they must be modest in value, unsolicited, and not intended to influence business decisions.

This code is shared with all employees and provided to suppliers before any contract is signed, ensuring both parties understand and agree to uphold these standards.
