Secto Design at the Finnish Embassy in London

One of the most memorable experiences from last autumn was being part of the Finnish Design Embassy project—a unique one-year initiative designed to help Finnish companies grow and promote their products on a global scale.

Secto Design has always aimed to bring a piece of Finland’s design heritage to the world, and this opportunity felt like the perfect fit for our mission. It was an incredible chance to showcase our craftsmanship and values to an international audience.

Secto Design lamps were featured at the embassy event, where we had the privilege of presenting them to top London-based interior designers.

Our involvement took place at the private residence of the Finnish Ambassador in Kensington Palace Gardens. We were honored to host a special dinner with a select group of interior designers, all under the beautiful and elegant setting of the ambassador’s home. It was the ideal environment to introduce our products and let them speak for themselves.

During the welcome reception, guests admired our lamps placed throughout the residence, highlighting how beautifully our Scandinavian designs complement traditional interiors. Before dinner, Joakim gave a short presentation about Secto Design, sharing our core values: “We are still a small, family-run business, where each lamp is handcrafted by skilled artisans. We produce responsibly, act honestly, and stay true to our timeless design philosophy, even as trends come and go.”

Although our lead designer, architect Seppo Koho, couldn’t attend, we were lucky to have Ilkka Suppanen join us. He introduced Seppo and shared insights into his creative process, offering the guests a deeper understanding of the thought behind each design.

Secto Design lamps created a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the evening.

The event was not only a success but also a joy to be part of. It was a night filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a deep appreciation for Finnish design. Secto Design is proud to have contributed to the Finnish Design Embassy project, helping to highlight Finland as a country of innovation and sustainable creativity.
