Building Diversity with the Support of TESS
At Kite, we’ve always believed that when people feel connected to their work and the company they’re part of, it leads to better results for everyone. That’s why we’ve been an employee-owned business since our founding in 2001. Ownership isn’t just a title here—it’s a mindset. We believe that when employees truly care about the business, it shows in the quality of service they deliver, and that’s what makes us stand out.
Beyond ownership, we also have a strong commitment to supporting young talent. That’s why we run a comprehensive graduate training program across all our locations. Our graduates get real-world experience in areas like accounting, marketing, and business development, and they're guided by senior partners who help them grow and develop. It's not just about learning—our graduates are given the tools and confidence to move up within the company and pass on their knowledge to others.
One of the ways we continue to build a diverse and inclusive workplace is through our partnership with TESS – The Employment Support Service, based in Coventry. TESS specializes in helping disabled individuals find meaningful employment, and we were introduced to them while looking for a new member of our Warehouse Operations team. From the very first conversation, we were impressed by their expertise and the support they offered.
That’s how we met Kieran. He now plays an important role in our warehouse, working as a Cleaning Operative. Kieran has autism, and the structured nature of his job at Kite suits him perfectly. But he’s not just doing his own tasks—he’s always ready to lend a hand wherever needed, whether it’s loading and unloading trucks or preparing large items for packing. His attitude is exactly what we look for in a Kite partner: motivated, hardworking, and eager to contribute.
Recently, TESS launched a promotional video highlighting the impact they make in the local community. Kieran was featured in the video, sharing his story and showing how TESS helped him find a job that fits his needs. The video includes several case studies from the Coventry area, showcasing how people with disabilities are thriving in their roles. Employers also share their experiences, explaining how TESS has made a difference in their businesses.
We strongly encourage other companies to consider similar approaches to diversity and inclusion. If you’re looking to create a more inclusive workplace, don’t hesitate to reach out to TESS. You can contact them directly at 024 7678 5600 to learn more about how they can support your business.
