Shanghai Continues to Improve Patent Grant Policies for Patent Applications

Recently, it was learned from the Shanghai Municipal Intellectual Property Office that in order to encourage inventions and innovations, Shanghai has continuously improved its patent support policy. From September 1, 1999 to the end of 2004, 67,347 patent applications were funded.

 At present, the grants for patent fees in Shanghai include: application fees for Chinese patents (inventions, utility models, and designs), and Chinese patent licensing fees (including patent registration fees, physical examination fees, maintenance fees, annual fees for authorization, and authorization for invention patents. Second and third year annual fee), foreign invention patent (excluding utility model, design) authorization fees.

 The amount of patent fee assistance is: Chinese patent application fee (acceptable for mitigation of actual payment), Chinese patent grant fee (allowed for mitigation of actual payment), and foreign invention patent grants one country each to fund 30,000 yuan.
