Color Management Solutions

In the past, due to lack of support for devices such as Photoshop, color management could not be implemented smoothly because it did not support device calibration and the creation of ICC profiles. The ColorCase, a color management solution from Binuscan, brought more convenient color management to prepress.

ColourCase is a color management solution that includes all the necessary software and hardware. The hardware includes spectrophotometers and printers for calibrating CRTs and LCDs; the software includes image processing software PhotoRetouchPro and workflow service software IPM Workflow Server.

ColourCase aims to calibrate scanners and monitors. Printers and users who can use software that synthesizes device files to implement color management. Currently, ColourCase is only available for Macs, including Mac OS9 and Mac OSX. Products for the Windows operating system will also be available.

The ColourCase spectrophotometer is Eye-One Pro from Gretag-Macveth and has been modified accordingly. The spectrophotometer software is designed by Binuscan. The creation of the ICC profile of the display requires that the spectrophotometer come into contact with the fluorescent screen. When the screen is touched, a series of color values ​​are transmitted to the system via software and the matching output values ​​are measured and the ICC profile is calculated.

For the printer calibration, first print the reference RGB or CMYK image, and then use the above spectrophotometer software to calculate and analyze. The reference image contains about 300 color samples. The spectrophotometer is a manual measurement that automatically scans progressively. After the scan is complete, the characterization file is also calculated.

The scanner's profile is created in the image processing software PhotoRetouchPro (PRP). It is obtained by scanning Binuscan's reflective or transmissive manuscript to obtain the file data and then comparing it with the currently scanned file data.
