3. Digital direct plate-making technology

Digital direct plate-making technology (computer to plate abbreviated as CTP) is applied to screen printing in three main types:

1. Inkjet (wax) CTP plate making. The technology is to use a computer-controlled lithographic inkjet or wax spray printer to print the image on a pre-made silk screen pre-coated with photosensitive adhesive. This ink image replaces the role of plate-making negative film, and is exposed and developed to make a printing screen. Both the US and Switzerland have produced and supplied inkjet (wax) CTP platesetters. American Gerber (Gerber) company produced a CTP platemaking system dedicated to T-shirt printing platemaking in 1992: Screen Jet (maximum platemaking area 65cmx95cm), which is now sold in hundreds in the world.

2. Spray CTP plate making. The difference with the inkjet CTP is that it is a photosensitive polymer glue sprayed on the screen, the image is exactly the opposite of the inkjet, and the printed screen is formed after photosensitive curing.

3. Laser CTP plate making. That is, an optical system is controlled by a computer to scan the pre-made photosensitive screen with a modulated laser beam, and the spot scanned by the laser beam is exposed and cured, and becomes a printing screen after being washed.
Compared with the current plate-making technology, CTP technology has obvious advantages. The process of making plate-making negatives is cancelled, which is much more convenient and faster, the quality is also improved, the transmission and storage of data are more reliable and simple, and its market prospect is very broad.

Fourth, screen production

1. Screen-making materials and tools

The screen is composed of a screen frame, silk screen, and photosensitive adhesive; the materials used are nails, mesh glue, sealing tape, etc .; the tools for making screens are: net stretcher, net clamp, and net gun , Glue machine, glue squeegee, dryer, plate printing machine, water spray gun, etc.

T-shirt printing generally needs to save a certain number of pattern screens and has a long shelf life. From the economic point of view, the screen frame is generally used. The material of the wooden net frame is preferably fir. The wood nail gun with too hard texture is difficult to nail the net nail into. The wood material with too loose texture is easy to deform and loose.

The use of nail guns is faster and more convenient than the use of sticky mesh adhesives, but the stability of the wire mesh is poor. It is best to combine the two.

Since most T-shirt printing uses water-based coatings, polyester silk screens should be used, because nylon silk screens are easy to swell and loosen when meeting water.

2. Stretching the Net

The t-shirt screen version has the same requirements as the ordinary screen version. However, it should be noted that the screen used for different printing materials should be suitable. For example, if there are water paste printing material, foam printing material and gold and silver paste printing material in one set of screen version, 120 mesh screen should be used for water paste, and 80 ~ 100 mesh screen should be used for foaming paste and gold and silver paste. The screen version is recommended to use a 140-mesh screen. For the printing of chemical fiber or purified fiber fabrics, if the water-based paste printing is used, the screen should be 140-160 mesh, and the screen should be more than 240 mesh.

3. Photographic plate making

Water-based printing materials use water-based photosensitive adhesives, both thermosetting inks and solvent-based photosensitive adhesives are available. Solvent-based photosensitive adhesives are preferred because it is easier to remove the film.

When coating the photosensitive adhesive on the screen, pay attention to the uniform adhesive layer. Generally, the adhesive layer on the printing surface is thicker than the adhesive layer on the printing surface. The thickness of the photosensitive film varies greatly depending on the printing materials, fabrics and graphics.

(1) Screen-printed screen film application. If the glue film is thick, there will be too much material to be missed, which makes it easy to paste dots.
(2) Whether the chemical fiber fabric uses ink or water-based paste, thermosetting ink, the screen film should be thin. First, to prevent paste, and secondly, the printed products will also feel softer because of the printed material. However, for thick Oxford fabrics (over 400 deniers, used for schoolbags, Travel Bags, etc.), the film can be thicker.
(3) The screen printing layer of glue printing and foam printing must be thick. Especially when printing glue on dark fabrics and rough fabrics, the screen glue layer should be about 3 times the thickness of the screen glue layer (more than 0.3mm). In this way, the printed glue will have strong hiding power, The printed surface is smooth and clean.

The production of the T-shirt printing screen and its process requirements are basically the same as the conventional screen production, but since the glue printing uses a screen of about 80 mesh and is a thick film, pay attention to the exposure time when printing to avoid Jagged edges appear on the image.

The prepress process not only determines the quality of T-shirt production, but also determines its success or failure. In business, a T-shirt with a well-designed image is not very finely printed, but it can still be sold, because consumers know very little about printing technology; but if the design of a T-shirt is not well designed No matter how fine you print and the best quality fabric, no one will buy it. Because, buying T-shirts is to buy culture, and the value of T-shirt patterns exceeds the value of T-shirts. Therefore, the design of the T-shirt pattern plays an important role in the value composition of the T-shirt. Of course, this is not to say that print quality is not important. T-shirts with high printing quality, even consumers who do not understand printing technology, will distinguish their grades based on their feelings. We summed up a sentence in practice: the pattern determines whether it can be sold; the printing determines whether it is sold well (price).

In addition, in terms of exposure to printing, our company usually does not have a very precise time requirement for exposure, but if you use the printing test table to test, you will find that the control of the printing time may have little effect on the thick lines, but for Fine lines and screen dots have a great influence. If you want to produce a high-quality screen printing plate, you must carefully determine the exposure time. It is the same set of four-color screen negatives. Due to the difference in dot density of each color, the exposure time should also be different. The exposure time of low-key screens should be slightly shorter, and the exposure time of high-key screens should be slightly longer to avoid the highlight dots being washed out .

In addition to computer production, prepress technology can be said to be not difficult to master. The important thing is to work hard and keep improving.
