Pudsey Cake Pops Recipe

There’s no better way to celebrate Children in Need night than with these adorable Pudsey cake pops! These treats would be perfect for a family gathering or even to sell at fundraising events. I won't sugarcoat it—they’re not the easiest thing to make, but the end result is absolutely worth the effort. My kids can’t stop talking about getting their hands on these little masterpieces!

Pudsey ears

Ingredients

(Makes about 8-10 cake pops)
  • Half a tub of ready-mixed chocolate buttercream icing
  • One Madeira cake
  • 500g bar of milk chocolate/one pack of yellow candy melts
  • One pack of white chocolate buttons/or use candy melts cut in half
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Rainbow sweets
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Small chocolate beans
  • Black icing

What To Do

First, cut off the sides of your Madeira cake and crumble it into a bowl. Mix the icing with the crumbled cake until it forms a dough-like consistency. Roll it into small balls and wrap each one in cling film before popping them into the fridge for at least half an hour.

Next, insert lollipop sticks halfway into the cake balls. For stability, I recommend putting them back in the fridge for another half an hour.

Melt your chocolate using a double boiler (a bowl over a pot of boiling water works great). Once melted, dip the cake pops into the chocolate or candy melts, ensuring they're fully coated. Allow any excess to drip off.

Decorate your Pudsey cake pops by adding two white chocolate buttons for ears, a brown chocolate bean for the nose, and candy eyeballs. Use black icing to draw a cute smiley face. For the bandage effect, attach chocolate beans to a rainbow sweet using melted chocolate and let it set.

Finally, place the finished cake pops in the fridge to set.

To display them, I like to use florist's foam and arrange them at varying heights for a fun touch.
