For over 28 years, the Consumers Choice Award has been dedicated to ensuring that its results genuinely reflect consumer opinions. The process is rigorous and multi-layered, starting with identifying key services that matter most to people—those that are costly, impactful, and require careful consideration before purchasing. Data from reliable sources such as Statistics Canada and Dunn & Bradstreet is combined with feedback from both local consumers and businesses to narrow down the categories.
Once the categories are established, Consumers Choice scours reputable review platforms like Google+, Houzz, HomeStars, TripAdvisor, and Yelp to compile a shortlist of potential nominees. Any company with numerous negative reviews is automatically disqualified, ensuring only the highest-quality contenders make the cut. These companies are then presented to consumers via detailed online surveys, allowing them to vote based on their personal experiences.
