Fluorescein isothiocyanate detailed information

Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)

It is yellow or orange-yellow crystalline powder, easily soluble in solvents such as water or alcohol. The molecular weight is 389.4, the maximum absorption light wavelength is 490-495nm, and the maximum emission light wavelength is 520-530nm, showing bright yellow-green fluorescence. The main advantages are: ① The human eye is more sensitive to yellow-green; ② Usually the green fluorescence in sliced specimens is less than red.

(2) Tetraethyl rhodamine (RB200): orange-red powder, insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol and acetone. It is stable in nature and can be stored for a long time. The maximum absorption light wavelength is 570nm, and the maximum emission light wavelength is 595-600nm, showing orange-red fluorescence.

(3) Rhodamine tetramethylisothiocyanate (TRITC): The maximum wavelength of attracted light is 550nm, and the maximum wavelength of emitted light is 620nm, showing orange-red fluorescence. Compared with FITC's emerald green fluorescence, it can be used for double labeling or contrast staining. Its isothiocyanate can bind to proteins, but its fluorescence efficiency is low.

(4) Phycoerythrin (R-RE): This product is an amorphous, brown-red powder, insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol and acetone, stable in nature, and can be stored for a long time. The maximum absorption light wavelength is 565nm, and the maximum emission light wavelength is 578nm, showing bright orange fluorescence. Compared with FITC's emerald green fluorescence, it is widely used for contrast staining or double staining of two fluorescent antibodies of different colors.
