Hebei farmers collected pesticide bottles for 20 years

In order not to pollute the environment with pesticide bottles, Ding Yueguang, a farmer on the third farm in Tanghai County, Hebei province, started farming in the 1980s and collected readily discarded pesticide bottles. For more than 20 years, the various pesticide bottles she collected have accumulated over a thousand pounds.

More than 20 years to pick up the pesticide bottle

From 1985 till now, Ding Yueguang has been keeping the habit of picking up pesticide bottles. For more than 20 years, although the pesticide bottle has changed from glass to plastic, each moonlight will have picked up the pesticide bottle in her sight.

“I saw the pesticide bottle in the field just want to pick it up and take it home to burn it and bury it deeply.” Ding Yueguang said: “Now there are many pesticides used in the field. These things are littered and it is very easy to pollute the environment.”

The reporter recently followed Ding Yueguang to the field. She wandered around in the ground and she had picked up several glass bottles and plastic bags. "It's not good to throw it in the field. I hope everyone will not throw it away."

Pick up hands and feet from the glass

Ding Yueguang, who is 45 years old, is contracting 40 mu of paddy fields each year on the Third Farm Xinggang Village. Speaking of crops and farm work, Ding Yueguang’s words were closed when they opened. "I have been farming for more than 20 years since I started farming in 1985," said Ding Yueguang. "The pesticides used in the earliest villages were all glass-wrapped. When many people used pesticides, they threw them into the ground."

It is this small glass bottle that has brought great trouble to farmers like Ding Yueguang. “At that time we were already using tractors to cultivate the land. The pesticide bottles that were thrown into the ground were often crushed by tractors. We worked barefoot in paddy fields, and our feet were often scratched with glass fragments. The hands were the same.” Ding Yueguang Say.

For this reason, every time Ding Yueguang saw empty pesticide glass bottles thrown away from the field, he picked it up and digged it deep. "At that time, I didn't think about anything else. First, I didn't want to be tied to the glass. Second, I was afraid that the pesticide bottle would be thrown around and pollute the environment," said Ding Yueguang.
