French company launches new environmentally friendly polymer

Carolex, France, introduced a new type of thermal elastomer, Carobio. The product is made from cereal oil and used for polylactic acid packaging materials provided by Cargill Dow, an American chemical company. This polymer is automatically degraded to industrial fertilizer within 47 days after use. The new polymer was exhibited at the Emballage in Paris at the end of 2004 and was well received.
