When the amount of abscisic acid in the plant is low, the "hand" is in an open state, allowing the PP2C protein to prevent the abscisic acid from functioning. When a plant produces a large amount of abscisic acid due to environmental stimulation, this "hand" will close, hold the abscisic acid tightly, block the PP2C protein, and prevent it from affecting the role of abscisic acid.

The researchers point out that their research confirmed once again that the aforementioned "intermediate protein" is an important class of receptors for natural abscisic acid.
