For example, the wet strength agent is used to increase the toughness of the paper towel. The commonly used wet strength agent is a synthetic resin, which can maintain the mechanical strength when the paper is wet or completely impregnated with water, such as urea formaldehyde and melamine. In order to make the paper appear whiter and meet the requirements of the national standard, some manufacturers will add fluorescent whitening agents to toilet paper and facial tissue.

The reporter consulted the relevant national standard of toilet paper and found that only the color, flexibility, and total number of colonies of toilet paper and facial tissue paper were stipulated, and no specific provisions were made for the amount of additives.
