Coke strength is one of the most important indexes in metallurgical coke. In industry, the amount of coke pulverization during the rotation strength test is the drum index. Regarding the relationship between the drum index and the fluidity of the raw coal during heating, it is generally believed that the lower the fluidity, the greater the influence of the fluidity (fluidity control zone). When the fluidity exceeds a certain value, it is greatly affected by the coalification of the raw coal (coalification control area).
Among them, in the coalification degree control area, it is generally believed that the index of the drum of coke varies mainly due to the structure of the coke matrix (pore wall). The author has previously proposed that coke, which is a porous material in the coalification control zone, has a drum index that is as strong as the coke matrix itself but can vary greatly due to coke pore spacing (pore wall thickness). According to the research on the formation mechanism of coke pore structure, the following test results are proposed. That is, the pore spacing of coke is greatly affected by the softening and melting properties of coal. The higher the maximum fluidity, the larger the pore spacing. Even when the packing density is low and the total inert content is large, the pore spacing is relatively small.
In addition, some studies have pointed out that the powder of coke during the rotation strength test, that is, the powdering of the pore wall is greatly affected by the strength of the pore wall. However, so far, no method has been established to directly evaluate the stomatal wall strength. The author believes that the mercury intrusion method can be used as a method for evaluating the coke pore wall strength, and several kinds of coke were prepared and tested.
