Artwork Systems Group Announces Circular Screening Technology

The Belgian Artwork Group is the world’s leading professional prepress software expert and has released Concentric Screening at the Chicago Printing Show from September 8th to September 15th 2005.

Concentric Screening is a revolutionary halftone dot technology that distributes traditional circular amplitude modulation dots into a small ring. This annular distribution limits the spread of the ink on the plate, thus providing a broader space for printing. Print operators can increase the number of screen lines, even double the previous one. At the same time, the phenomenon of the previous moiré and dot enlargement and the change of outlets in the advanced screening network have all disappeared.

Mr. Schueren, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commented that: Artwork Systems is oriented to innovation, and Concentric Screening is a symbol of industrial innovation that we bring to the market. We are very happy to bring this technology to our customers.

Currently, Concentric Screening is currently evaluating four printing companies in the United States and plans to launch a full-scale commercial promotion after the 2005 print show. Tom Stevenson, vice president of Stevenson Color Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, said: “We were impressed by Concentric Screening. In our first production mission, we included 175lpi traditional AM screening, 20u FM screening and 310 lpi Concentric ring add. Net, it prints ink fast, colors are stable, and visual effects are surprisingly good."

Concentric Screening can be used for Nexus and Odystar workflows in Artwork System. In addition to traditional screening and random screening, there is now a third screening mode: Concentric. Mr. Schueren said: "Halftone dots will never be repeated."
