Manroland at IPEX 2002

At the IPEX 2002 exhibition, Manroland's booth featured a number of new performance parameters and equipment upgrades for its products, which enriched the company's product range in sheetfed printing, commercial rotary printing and newspaper printing. Under the slogan "Networking Values," all independent products can be integrated into a single network workflow to create a continuous production and value chain.

Mr. Gerd Finkbeiner, chairman of the board of directors of MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG in the future, said: “If every printing company can calmly face the challenges, then the future of the printing industry is optimistic. We are convinced and use this as our starting point. Prepare the exhibits at the IPEX exhibition. In the printing company, to ensure the best printing quality and efficiency, the most important thing is to connect the company to the network except for the proper printing system, and it will change over time. More importantly, in the future, if customers want to remain undefeated in the mid- to long-term in the highly competitive printing market, they need to build a continuous workflow, which is the most basic prerequisite. We will do our best to provide customers with a comprehensive solution. Program."

Manroland teamed up with 30 companies in the printing city to demonstrate networked operations: the fact that the concept of workflow integration and color management is increasingly considered in the industry, considering the importance of the concept of workflow network integration and color management. Emphasize these two popular ideas. Under the slogan "Networking the Value Chain," Manroland appeared as part of the Printing City. About 30 printing company partners will participate in this impressive presentation. The range of products exhibited includes the entire production process of a book, from cover, book packaging, personalized labels, very different terminal packaging and trademark printing products, and various printing media used in digital printing.

The "closed loop, open system" is the theme of Manroland's demonstration - realized in the cooperation of the printing city, and is clearer than ever - confirming that it is entirely possible to use the open system architecture for high integration. In the center of the Printing City, Manroland assisted PPI Media in demonstrating workflow integration including operations management, prepress, printing, and post-press networking, and for the first time contained ingredients based on the new JDF standard.

Although Manroland has taken the lead in the market with the automation and printing plant management capabilities of the PECOM system, they hope that there will be further development. In the IPEX exhibition, two consoles will visualize the PECOM system, either for commercial printing or newspaper printing production.

Manroland's various types of sheetfed presses will be exhibited at the show. The company's presses will be displayed in an operational state. There are ROLAND 200 five-color printing presses and six-color printing with two double-sided printing units. ROLAND 300, Roland 500, a five-color printer with coating unit, and ROLAND 700, an eight-color printer with a duplex printing and coating unit.

- The ROLAND 200 is an exhibition of concern at the IPEX exhibition, which showcases the new "ColorPilot smart" ink control system.

- The ROLAND 300 will exhibit the first model that runs at a speed of 16,000 impressions per hour.

- ROLAND 500 will appear as a new equipment image that can be used for UV printing, brand printing, and thin material printing, with a semi-automatic, non-stop transfer function that can be used for the production of folded cartons.

- ROLAND 700 is a double-sided printing press that can be used to print cartons. The printing material can be up to 0.6 mm thick, and an on-line sorter removes the discarded printing materials.

New devices exhibited in IPEX:
- The ROLAND 200 has optional accessories IR dryer and UV printing device, which is more suitable for individual customers.

- ROLAND 300's coating module for coating plates is equipped with a new type of rapid reaction tensioning device.

- As exhibited at IPEX, the ROLAND 700 will have a new fully automated non-stop transmission device, a new in-line punching system and a paper roll feeder with digital infinite trim adjustment. In addition, the ROLAND 700 can be modified into a purely offline coater at the right time.

- The latest version of ROLAND 900: ROLAND 900 1/1 W, a double-sided monochrome printer for large-format book printing, is now available. In addition, by 2004, the following new paper format presses will also appear: 7 (112 x 162 cm), 7B (120 x 162 cm) and 8 (130 x 185 cm). The new equipment modules include: a second printing unit, a functional package for handling "E" type fine corrugated cardboard, and a paper cutting knife for slitting the paper on a printing press.

—The new ColorPilot ink control system is used on the ROLAND 300, 500, 700 and 900 presses exhibited at the IPEX trade show. The system was developed on the mature CCI technology. To save space, ColorPilot is also integrated in the color matching console and controlled via the console's control panel. This system is pre-set and evaluated on the pre-configured press workstation JobPilot.

Highlights of the printing industry: DICOweb
The focus of the Manroland DICO Center is the DICOweb press. It will appear for the first time as a thermosetting 16-page press (DIN A4). Manroland DICO series mainly prints various wine-related products such as catalogues, direct mail products, posters, and trademarks. These products represent the best state of application for this press, and they are all short-run, personalized, and individually printed. In addition, the DICO series will also demonstrate the expanding range of post-press and on-line finishing.

Manroland rotary press has new breakthroughs Although there is no live demonstration, Manroland will introduce some new features to the visitors at the IPEX exhibition rotary press exhibition area.

For commercial printing, include:
—16-page POLYMAN commercial rotary presses can now reach speeds of up to 45,000 rpm and have an automatic plate changer PPL. POLYMAN also features a new single engine drive technology. The plates used are compatible with ROTOMAN printers.

—ROTOMAN presses have been a success story for decades and now have performance levels of 50,000, 60,000 and 70,000 rpm presses. The seamless blanket cylinder technology is applied in the sleeve technology of ROTOMAN S, depending on the model speed, which is 60,000, 70,000 or 85,000 rpm respectively.

- LITHOMAN presses for commercial printing industry products can now produce 72 pages. Like the 64-page press with many years of history, the operating speed is 42,500 rpm.

For newspaper printing, new features include:
- The manroland flagship product for newspaper printing is the 16-page COLORMAN series, and now also develops a 24-page product called the XXL version. The central part of the new COLORMAN press is a nine-roller satellite printing unit with six plates in the width direction and two plates in the circumferential direction.

- REGIOMAN continues its successful course: 13 printers of type 4/1 have all been imported into the United States. At the same time, a total of 24 REGIOMAN presses were sold to Germany, France, Mexico, the United States and the Dominican Republic.

- UNISET is characterized by high productivity. This 8-page press now has a speed of 75,000 rpm.
