1. "Roller Coaster" running method:


Make the most of the inertia of the downhill and go to the mountain to run. The off-road method of smooth transition from downhill to uphill is the "roller coaster" running method. It is a very effective way of running.



The "roller coaster" is a running method that is used on a typical saddle-shaped mountain track for off-road use. The main point is to make full use of the inertia of the mountain and go uphill. It is such a feeling: make full use of the speed of rushing down the mountain, and continue to run uphill before the footsteps have stopped. Another thing to note is that when you go uphill and run uphill, your footsteps will become small smashing steps, transforming the body's power to lean forward into the propulsive force of the mountain. Although only minor details, there are differences in the consumption of physical strength. Therefore, we must always practice and try more often. Roller Coaster is a very effective technique in the game.


2. Using the "soil bank" method


Off-road can also use "land bank" according to the characteristics of the mountain road.



As shown in the photo, on the off-road route, if there is just a mound next to the earth (dyke/soil bank, etc.), then the efficient way of running is to effectively use this “soil bank”. Ordinary turns, in principle, reduce the speed before turning. But if, like the scene in the figure above, you can use the next side of the soil, you don't need to slow it down and keep on running.


This technique is also very effective in the game. When you start practicing, you must decelerate sufficiently when turning, and gradually reduce the rate of deceleration after you get used to it. However, we must be careful not to force ourselves to use advanced techniques to avoid injury. Moreover, it is necessary to judge whether the skill can be used according to the road conditions. In addition, be careful not to use it if it damages plants.


3. How much weight to place when you settle


When running on a restless mountain road, pay attention to the weight distribution. Basically, try to settle in a stable place. When there is no stable point, you must judge the condition of the road at any time and place the appropriate weight on it. Off-road, you need to instantly make appropriate judgments based on the conditions under your feet. Accumulated practice is indispensable. The difference between trail running and highway running is that it always continues discontinuously. It seems that the movement has continued. In fact, when each step is on the hill, the weight added to the feet is different.



For example, in Figure 1 (right), the road surface is stable and the weight placed on the foot is 1. In the next step (Figure 2: upper left), the stone that is on the foot is likely to be high in pumice, so it is added to The weight on the foot should be 0.7. Gently lower the foot and immediately take the other foot. In Photo 3 (bottom left), the rock is fixed, so the foot weight can be 0.9. As such, the pace of each step of the off-road and the strength of the landfall are not the same. Always observe the conditions on the road, and adjust the transmission of power in a random manner. For top runners, this technique must be mastered.


4. Control center of gravity


The center of gravity moves with the curvature of the off-road route.

The view of the route on the photo is relatively wide, so it is easy to add a speed run, but pay attention to the following points:


The position of 1 in the figure is a downward slope with a left corner. Because the gentle slope is easy to accelerate, it may hit the right tree. While moving down, moving the center of gravity slightly toward the valley can safely pass through this turn without deceleration.

After the position in Figure 2, it is a flat right turn. Using the energy gained just downhill, inertia passes. When you make a right turn, your body is in the direction of the valley, so the center of gravity must be placed on this side of the mountain for smooth passage.



5. Pay attention to fallen leaves


On fallen mountain roads, be careful not to step on the pit.



The photo is a forest of cross-country forests with fallen leaves in late autumn. Piled up with very thick fallen leaves, unable to judge the road conditions, the actual conditions of the road can't be seen. Be careful not to settle at the bottom of the ditch and use the side of the soil/soil. The right foot falls on the side of position 1, then the left foot falls into position 2 and does not fall on the bottom of the groove. Because you don't know how deep it is!


6. Training response time


The fun of trail running downhill: The key to mastering downhill is "response."



Downhill can be said to be the fun of trail running. The key to safe and quick downhill running is: Reactive force. The reaction force mentioned here means that in the off-road where the road conditions are very poor, we must actively look for a stable and settled place, and we must quickly make visual sense of the ability to make physical reactions as soon as possible. This responsiveness is directly linked to the speed of the downhill slope. The training of this ability is through the nerve conduction system, there is a personal difference, and exercises with downhill cross-country training. The runners must overcome their fears, and they should be able to train at a slightly faster speed than usual. Downhill slopes are also effective in stable grasslands.


In addition, as a training that can also be performed in the city, for example, two steps down the stairs of a station or a walkway, training is also effective.
