Rock climbing language signal and password

The password signal is very important for coordination and mutual inspection between climbers and protectors. Not only is it important for people who do not have long-term cooperation with each other, but it is also very experienced. Peers who have cooperated for many years should also maintain a certain password. There are many accidents due to misunderstandings and carelessness between climbers and protectors. There has been a well-established password between rock climbing and climbers in foreign countries. Here is the English password and my explanation, and the brackets are suggestions for the Chinese corresponding password that I temporarily came up with. The "/" in English means that there are a variety of commonly used arguments and I hope everyone can comment. Especially if there is confusion in accent, some passwords do not matter long and Taiwan may already have a set of passwords.

When you start climbing:

ON BELAY? (Prepared to protect?) Prepare yourself for climbing (belts, stringers, equipment) and ask the protector whether or not the BELAY ON / BELAY IS ON protector answers. Don't habitually answer! In the affirmative protection point do a good job, the seat belt inspection, the rope buckle is good, the rope between the climber and the protector is not ready until after the rope.

CLIMBING (beginning) climbing to tell the protection to start crawling, but also including climbers continue to climb after interrupting for some time on the way. The answer to the climb should be waiting for protection: CLIMB / CLIMB AWAY (climbing) Protected response to "climbing".

Climbing on the way:

Slack (climb) Climbers let the protection release some ropes. UP ROPE / TAKE IN / TAKE (climbing) The climber lets some of the ropes that are protected loose, but depending on the circumstances it may not tighten the TENSION (tightening). Let the protector tighten the rope so that it is not loose at all. Sometimes the climber can hang on the rope and the climber will not feel enough to call More! (Receive again).

WATCH ME (Caution) A climber consciously finds a place where there is a high probability of falling, or if a dangerous place after a fall leaves the special attention of the protector, the protector often receives some ropes, but he also pays attention to not using the rope to destroy the balance of the climber.

FALLING! (Protection!) The climber cries when he falls. After the protector hears the protection action, the basic thing is to tighten and hold the rope. When the climber falls, he may not be able to respond and “protect”.

ROCK! / ICE! (masking) warns people under the stone ice blocks and even equipment to fall. The following people must develop the sense of instinct to avoid or protect the head immediately after hearing this cry, especially when climbing people not far!

After climbing the route:

OFF BELAY / SAFE (Secure) The climber completes the climb and tells himself that the protection himself no longer needs protection after affirming the safety.

BELAY IS OFF (protection end) protection answer climber.

If it is a multi-segment route, the climber first declares "safety" after fixing himself to the protection point. Then start the main protection point (multipoint, balance, delay direction, etc.). The protector began to pack things after answering “protection ends”, tied himself to the rope (preferably tied to the rope at the beginning), dismantled the original protection point, and prepared to follow. However, do not remove the last point when the rope is loose, so that you have protection. At the same time, the climber establishes a protection point, fixes himself, fixes himself, and then takes in all the loose parts of the rope. The original protector shouted after seeing the rope tied to himself tightened:

THAT"S ME (I) The original climber heard that there was no more loose on the rope, began to protect and shouted: BELAY IS ON. CLIMB WHEN READY (protected) The original protector completely removed the original The main protection point becomes a climber (protection).

In addition:

Call ROPE! (rope) when throwing rope down
The person at the bottom answered CLEAR! (Safety)
